The Kathrine + Alex Wedding

The Kathrine + Alex Wedding

This is wedding is extremely dear to me. All weddings are very special to me but this was my little brothers wedding day; my baby brother, Alex, is marrying my new sister-in-law, Kathrine. Alex is my only sibling so be adding another sibling to my family (and a sister at that) was super exciting.

We arrived at Ormond Memorial Gardens in Ormond Beach, Florida hours before the ceremony to start scoping out the area; everything we would typically do for weddings… expect this wasn’t just an other wedding.

Maybe half way into taking photos of the decorations, I remember who it was that I was about to photograph. Even as I type this, I cant really put into words the emotion that struck me. Obviously I knew that I was about to photography my little brothers wedding but I guess this was the moment that it finally truly hit me.

Shortly after, I see my mom’s car pull into the parking lot and out came my brother. He had the biggest smile I’ve ever seen him have. I took him to take some portraits of just himself. Even though he had a huge smile, I feel more emotions than just happy coming from him and I cant really blame him for that. He was happy, excited, nervous, anxiety.. pretty much everything you can think of and I wanted to capture all of it.

More people started showing up, and by more people, I mean aunts, uncles, my grandparents, cousins! The ceremony was getting so close to starting, it was all getting so real! I got the cue that Kathrine had just arrive so I rushed over to where her dad was dropping her off. Her parents had a quick second to help her adjust her veil and just like that, it was time to walk down the aisle!

Such a beautiful moment! It was such an honor to be there for my brother and sister-in-law to photograph the happiest day of their lives 🙂 This without a doubt is a day that I will surely remember for the rest of my life.

Once the ceremony ended, I let them have a private moment together and spent that time to celebrate with my family (at this point, I hadn’t had much time to talk to them since I was running around taking photos).

I finally caught back up with them to take portraits with them prior to doing family photos. I’m seriously love how they came out, the venue was honestly beautiful, such a hidden little gem!

Another cool little thing about this wedding was that Kathrine’s parents got married at the same venue many years prior. There was a photo that was taken on that day of Kathrine’s grandpa leading her mom down the stairs into the ceremony.. so of course we had to recreate it 🙂

Thank you Alex and Kathrine for letting us capture such a beautiful wedding for you. Even though at first, I know we were debating on whether or not I should be part of the wedding or shoot it, I’m so happy with the decision we made. I can’t imagine looking back years from now to memories that I didn’t capture for you. Love you guys so much!
